Südpol is an independent publisher of children’s books and books for young adults, located in Grevenbroich – in the heart of the Rhineland between Cologne and Duesseldorf. Since 2011 we publish 14-16 novelties every year and offer an animating, exciting and imaginative program. Our focus lies on stories beyond the world of glitter-fairies, topmodels and knights.

Our intention is to motivate and support the enjoyment of reading. We publish books that inspire, entrain, surprise and especially: entertain without being superficial. A palm tree at the South Pole – our logo – is pathbreaking: every book, every story contains surprises and it’s worth changing the point of view sometimes.
We want to pay attention to nowadays different situations in which children grow up: single parents, different cultural backgrounds, patchwork families or families with two mums or two dads. That’s why we publish exclusively German-speaking authors.
We have evolved the ›LeseweltEntdecker / explorers of the world of reading‹ trying to build a bridge between taking first steps in reading and extensive children’s books. Funny and exciting subjects, short chapters and illustrations on any double page invite to dive into the big, wide world of stories.
Nature is another issue of importance: „Die Grünen Piraten“ want to create interest in nature and environment by enthralling stories, that could happen in eyery town.
