Antje Damm

Agatha. Dad's Tortoise and Me

Agathe

Agatha is a Greek tortoise that Antje Damm’s father bought when he was a little boy and it now lives with Antje. She talks about Agatha as a member of the family who hibernates every autumn, likes to pinch her visitors’ toes (that’s the only place she can reach…) and once disappeared without a trace for weeks.

Her book is as diverse as her storytelling – she juxtaposes illustrations with souvenir photos and comic strips – recounting how she once almost traded Agatha for Barbie dolls and felt ashamed afterwards, or how she built a swimming pool for her.
