Michaela Beck grew up in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg and has a degree in architecture. She has worked as an architect, publisher’s representative and editor and after the German reunification studied “Scenic Writing” at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Since then she has worked as a freelance author, dramaturge and lecturer – mainly in the field of screenwriting. In addition to a cinema film and screenplays for various TV series, she has also published radio features, a radio play and a crime thriller. Her web graphic novel Ninette was nominated for the Grimme Online Award and her manuscript Ich, meine fürchterlich nette Familie und andere Katastrophen [Me, My Awfully Nice Family and other Disasters] was nominated for the Oldenburg Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize. Michaela Beck lives with her husband in Berlin.
