The life of eels is crazy, and that’s exactly how it ends: with a wild party in the depths of the Sargasso Sea. Foam, chaos and mayhem!

In the morning, little eels lie slumbering in their ‘baby seats’. The young eels don’t have much time to play; they have to make their way through the tropical saltwater sea all the way to the fresh waters on the continent. Thousands of kilometres away.

In panels and full-page spreads, Nadia Budde provides amusing snapshots of the journey: a flying visit to the Canale, a diving manoeuvre in the Saale, a crab hunt in the seaweed forest, a brief spa break… Then suddenly, after decades of adventure, a longing sets in and, for the grand night-time finale, absolutely all the eels swim back to the Sargasso Sea.
