Behind the Fence is Daddyland
Heinrich and Jonathan are friends and will soon even be brothers, as Jonathan’s mum and Heinrich’s dad are a couple and plan to move in together. When Jonathan’s mum has to have knee surgery during the holidays and Heinrich’s dad has to travel to Nigeria for work, Jonathan’s dad steps in.
He takes the boys to stay with him: in a cabin in the middle of the forest, with no electricity or running water. For the boys, this marks the start of the wildest holidays of their lives. Instead of fish fingers, in ‘Daddyland’ they eat mushrooms and herbs, and anyone who wants to cook has to light a fire. It’s uncomfortable, but exciting! But then things take a sinister turn. The two discover an underground bunker, a creepy man turns up, and Jonathan’s father talks of dark forces threatening the world…
Ulrich Fasshauer tells the adventurous story of two children who find themselves caught up in a right-wing conspiracy and must summon great courage to free themselves from it.
