The Peacock and the Crane

Being one among many who strive for knowledge and freedom makes life colourful and interesting. Vanity and the desire to please make people lonely and rigid.
A timely message when expensive clothes and mobile phones sometimes seem more important than shared experiences and adventures with friends.
In 1771, Justus Friedrich Wilhelm Zachariä wrote this text for one of Aesop’s most famous fables from ancient Greece.
Alexandra Prischedko’s illustrations are a stroke of genius: she projects the inner worlds of the peacock and the crane, in accordance with their respective worldviews, onto the colours
of their respective environments: the magnificent peacock in
the dull grey of the chicken yard, the white crane against the changing colourful landscapes of his world travels.
