Karin Koch, born in 1961, works as a physiotherapist in her own practice and lives in a small village near Karlsruhe. She writes children’s books, short stories and dialect. She has received several awards for her dialect stories. In 2008, she received the Rotraud Dankar Authors’ Prize and in 2009 she was a prize-winner at the Hard Literature Prize. The book “If I Was a Pirate” (illustrated by André Rösler, Peter Hammer Verlag) won the Children’s Book Award NRW 2013.
