Jörg Isermeyer has been awarded the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize for his young adult novel Never Mind Was Yesterday (Egal war gestern).

The Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize is an award presented by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and is considered one of the most important awards for German-language children’s and young adult literature. The prize is awarded annually to a book that encourages young readers to advocate for human rights, peaceful forms of conflict resolution, and tolerance, and to take a stand against violence.

Minister Ina Brandes: “Jörg Isermeyer has done an outstanding job of turning the ubiquitous preoccupation with social media into a touching story.”
