Spaghetti

Fun guaranteed!

On a normal day like any other, the mother suggests making spaghetti to relieve the boredom. The father puts the pot of water on to boil and the older brother is tasked with finding the jar of spaghetti. To his surprise, it has disappeared and a note has been left behind.

From this point on, what was supposed to be a quiet meal turns first into a weird chase after the spaghetti through the city and then into a surreal search for the main ingredients that takes them all the way to Italy.

Pablo Albo once again plays with absurdity and impossible situations. The ingredients in the spaghetti recipe become the protagonists of a crazy adventure involving chases, dirty glasses and linguistic confusion. Readers will not only learn what these ingredients are called in Italian, but also that it is important not to confuse mozzarella with mortadella. The story concludes with a ‘Small improvised vocabulary of basic Italian’ written by the illustrator himself, which will help us expand our vocabulary and, above all, laugh a little more.

Antinori’s simple and colourful strokes, so characteristic of his work and with which children identify, make this story guaranteed fun.
